There have been so many untrue posts on here about different houses that I thought maybe I could help. I'm going to be a senior and so this will be my fourth recruitment including my pnm year. PNMs generally choose houses for lots of different reasons not having to do with their rank on campus. Some do choose for that reason -- generally ones that have lots of friends in various houses or ones that unfortunately pay a lot of attention to gossip after they get here. The ones with lots of friends have an idea of how the houses stack up because of the girls they know in each one. That's valid. The girls who listen to gossip are the ones who I've seen disaffiliate before their senior year. They were so afraid they'd be stuck in a "bad" house that they didn't trust their instincts and did indeed end up in a house that wasn't right for them. Gossip really ruins some pnm's recruitment. They listen to what guys say. (We all know what guys value in any generic sorority girl.) They listen to what girls in their rush group say. They really don't realize that all houses are different and what's good for one isn't necessarily good for all. Some girls drop entirely because they have only a couple of houses left and don't think they're good enough because of gossip. I saw that as a Rho G. No amount of convincing helps them because of gossip. If you get cut from KAT, KKG, DDD, GPB, or PBP, find a new favorite. Don't let gossip get to you. All OU houses are good.
