Subject:
sorority rush - let's be honest

Poster Message:
You've been accepted to OU and now what? Roommates, dorm choices, majors, sorority/fraternity? This post is really designed for those girls coming to OU from out of town and without a connection to any sororities. If you are not familiar with rush at OU let me tell you the things that Panhellinic won't tell you. OU has an amazing greek system, but you can't go into rush blindly. So let's be honest. Here are some things you need to know. If you don't have any connection to the school or sororities, it will be very hard for you. With 1300 girls going through rush last year and only 11 sororities the odds are that you are not going to make it very far. Pledge classes are large, yet most house take 60 - 100 girls. You do the math. You will probably be dropped by half the houses the first round. OUCH. They say that recs aren't important, but if you are coming from far away and want to be noticed have strong recs. And if you are a legacy but not at OU, then know that it may or may not help. Plenty of legacies are dropped, but use everything you can to get noticed. Look nice and put your best face forward. Try to connect with as many people as you can. Be memorable in a good way. Just in case you don't get asked back by any houses or realize that the last 2 that asked you back are not for you, make a back up plan for the rest of the week before everyone else moves in. It's a long few days if you have no one there and everyone else around you has pledged a house.
