Please open your mind a little bit and be open to all the houses--it will make rush so much easier for you. Rush this year was extremely difficult and really good girls still ended up in AOPi and Alpha Gam, so those houses got relatively good pledge classes this year. And I know tons of people who ended up in Alpha Chi, DG, AOPi, and Alpha Gam--and everyone I know really loves their house!!! One thing I learned is to trust the process. The process sucks, but everyone really does end up where they belong. I can't name a single person who doesn't love the house they ended up in! Some girls prefer lower or middle tier houses to top houses, so a top house doesn't guarantee a great greek experience. Sometimes you find your place somewhere else. There really aren't tips I can give you to get a "top house" specifically, but I can give you tips to make sure rush goes as well as it can for you! Definitely be yourself, because if you try to be someone you're not during rush, you won't end up in the right place for you. Be conversational and smile a lot. Always ask the members questions too and don't let the conversation be one-sided. And resumes are extremely important!!! Because this is how houses pre-determine the girls they potentially want. More involvement and leadership and great academics make you a lot more likely to get a house! And if you get cut from a lot of houses, don't take it personally. Even if you have one house on your schedule in round 2, you should be proud of yourself that a house wants you! And if you have to go back to houses that you "cut," keep an open mind as your opinion can always change! Be respectful to all houses at all times and make every house feel like you'd be lucky to get them!
