There is definitely life beyond being Greek too. If you're non-Greek and have friends in Greek houses then you are included in a lot of Greek activities. You do miss out on a lot of Greek life, but for some people that's okay. It just depends on what kind of college experience you're looking for. The best thing for ALL freshmen to do is get involved on campus with something. It's a great networking opportunity & a lot of fun & great friendships from all houses and non-Greeks too can come out of it especially if you apply to be an SGL for Camp Crimson. And it helps your house's reputation on campus. If you isolate yourself to just one "group" you'll miss out so much from your time in college so go for it all. If you want more options of houses, it's best to keep your grades up & polish your resume this year and then go through fall recruitment again next year. It'll be great motivation to keep you accountable for one thing. Houses accept A LOT more sophomores now than they once did and it'll be such a better experience with friends in the houses. Rush will actually be fun & you'll get better results. That's what I did. But I agree that you should loosen up your judgement if that's why you dropped the first time. Go for where you feel comfortable & could see yourself happy, not just what you hear. Remember that everything always happens for a reason in the end.
