Ranks don't matter at all. Some houses get more attention because they are outstanding in some respects. The only girls that will be comfortable in those houses are ones that are outstanding in the same respect. If you are a free spirit and are in college more for the fun, you're not going to "fit" in a house that is highly academic. When you meet the girls who recruit you, they are looking to see if you are a good fit for their house. If you're cut by a house where you thought you had a great conversation, it doesn't mean they didn't like you. It just means they determined you were not a fit or that other girls were a better fit. If you are not a "top 5 girl," you would be miserable in a top 5 house. Bottom line, you are who you are and you can't change just to try to impress other people that you got a top 5 house.
