This is exactly why (the multimillion dollar investment required, the tremendous amount of alum support needed, the fact that Panhel wants new groups to lower #s but isn't that supportive when a new group colonizes) some SEC schools have been open for expansion for a while, but no one has sent in packets. For Ole Miss, ZTA, Gamma Phi, AXO, DZ, AGD are all great options. Particularly AXO, AGD, and ZTA. But I think the GL person was definitely referencing these 5 groups, as they all have chapters at other SEC schools and have done well. And yes, it's extremely imortant to choose groups that have proven they can do well in the SOUTH (so the group doesn't automatically start out "on the wrong foot" like APhi has). All 5 of these groups have chapters at nearby/SEC schools, have the $ to be able to build a beautiful house, have substantial alum support around the area, and generally have strong reputations at schools very, very similar to Ole Miss- which is key.
