I am NOT an old person, and I do agree that alums will probably be happier posting on GC than they will be posting here, where the majority of people posting are college age actives. I also agree that while they should definitely have the right to write recs and personal letters explaining why they believe certain PNMs would make awesome sisters of their group, that they should NOT have direct control over who gets a bid and who doesn't. It's our chapter now; send us your recs and then let US make the decision based on how WE feel about the girls. But, at the same time, we need to show our alums some respect. Yes, their "glory days" are over, but they are just as valued sisters in their/our organizations as we are. A lot of them contribute lots of $, time, and man power to helping our chapters continue to be successful. A lot of them hold advisor/housing corp/expansion team/district/regional/national offices for our groups. Without the support of these women, it would be impossible for us to sustain our chapters' growth. So...while they may need to be "put in their place" for over stepping every once and a while, there's no reason to be so harsh with them. When we were initiated, we knew that we were taking our oath for LIFE. Not just until graduation day. They are still OUR SISTERS, no matter how old they are, just like actives in our chapters at MSU, Bama, LSU, UGA, etc are. Let's start treating them accordingly. We're better than this! Hotty Toddy!!
