I had below a 3.0 and pledged a top sorority two years ago. I had a very good act score and lots of activities in high school. My gpa didn't reflect how smart I am or how hard I could've worked, it just reflected that I was lazier in high school than I am now. The two women who wrote my recs had some concerns about my gpa but they knew my family and me very well and went to bat for me in my letters. Top tier sororities have consistently good chapter gpa's each semester. Therefore, they can afford to take a few grade risks each fall, knowing a few girls can't hurt their overall gpa too much. Sororities with lower gpa's will try not to take grade risks if they can help it.
