Alumni groups in TX

Poster Message:
In the large Texas cities the Pi Phi, Kappa, Theta, and Chi O groups are huge, popular and basically sororities for moms!!! They have huge charity events that raise in the high 6-figure range (Chi O Christmas, Kappa Tablescapes, etc.), they have monthly luncheons, get togethers, etc. I just heard a friend of my mom's mention how the PKT groups get together and leave the DDD and other alumni out and that something should be said about it. Really? They are 50 plus years old. Something you hear here a lot if a girl goes anything other than PKT ... "Is xyz considered good there? Is that a good sorority? Does anyone know?" So yes, some Texas girls might give this some thought, especially if they are going back to Texas (most of us are). On another topic, it has really surprised me, my sister that goes to another SEC school and my parents what constitutes having "money" in MS, AL, GA compared to Texas. It is annoying to be around girls who act like they are "all that" and extremely wealthy when they could never compete financially with even an average Texan much less the truly wealthy (multi-billionares) Texans. And, a major reason Texans attend out of state is that only the top 7 percent are given automatic accept-ance into Texas schools. SEC schools are offering all the other really smart kids full tuition and the opportunity to be in honors and fellowship programs. I know Texas kids with 4.6's and 4.8's that didn't get into UT much less it's Honors Business Programs
