The sisters do care about you. Unfortunately, headquarters don't and all girls need to pay the dues to be called a member. Sorry. It's like any other club that you have to pay dues for. Saying that it's ironic that a sisterhood doesn't care is not fair. Let me explain: We have to do what we have to do set by a lot of rules from headquarters and Panhellenic. If you can't pay the dues, you can't be considered a member which means that you don't get to go to formals, date parties, swaps, no t-shirts, no house privileges, you won't be initiated, and you won't have a voice in the chapter. This is not a Disney movie that everything works out in your favor. This is the real deal and you have to pay for it. How do you think sororities afford to throw philanthropy events? Formals? Parties? Have a house? All these dues go towards the sorority. We don't choose girls based on "daddy's money" but we can't give you a bid if you can't pay the dues. That's not fair to the other girls who want to be in our house because you're taking their spot then dropping out.
