None of these are correct for showing retention because the method is wrong. The numbers given in the Greek reports show the END of the semester numbers, which includes that semester's new members. This means that simply calculating the difference between fall and spring total membership numbers, as the numbers above, includes both losses from fall (drops and grads) PLUS gains from COB's. So it's not a true measure of retention because it includes spring COB additions. To get the actual number of losses from fall to spring you have to subtract out the New Members from spring. That will show how many actives were RETAINED from fall to spring before a chapter took COB. That is actual retention. Fall Total Chapter Size - Spring Total Chapter Size - Spring New Member Class Size = Active members retained from fall.
