Formula is set up so the new sororities get a very generous opportunity to get mutual selection. As the popular sororities (what you guys say are top tier) get fewer opportunities to invites back girls as they have less invitations to give out each round. The new way it works is to try to get all houses to have make bid day numbers. So they evenly distribute PNM based on what houses had the higher rates of returns (they get less invites to give out) and newer/less popular houses(get most amount of invites to give out). What they cannot account for and why no one can answer your questions is the girls that will drop out as they only wanted what they consider 5 top houses. The drop outs mean less girls going through recruitment so the numbers each round are changed on houses to redistribute with PNM still going through recruitment. Please note you will see houses that have pledge classes above quota 1) if PNM only had one house for preference as she is automatically on the list even if not towards the top for quota; 2) newer/smaller sororities that have had upperclassman drop out or have not been fully capped out in numbers from prior years can add members if they elect or wait for spring recruitment. It is up to them. Your not going to get a direct answer to your question as this is where the secret part of recruitment comes in as houses do not discuss where PNM are on the list or if they PNM was a very rare SNAP bid etc. You can understand they want every PNM to feel they were equally wanted by their house(new home). Also, as I said the numbers each house has to work with keep changing based if you have a lot of girls drop out before or after preference. Just know at Ole Miss most girls do get a bid although it may not be the house they initially wanted. Keep an open mind do not compare yourself to others. Look at those coming back to preference and think can I be friends with these potential members of my pledge class.
