Well, a lot of times the chapter actives DON'T WANT some of the legacies. Some chapters at Ole Miss have way too much interference from alunae dictating their membership selection instead of allowing the actives to choose their sisters. Girls get in that otherwise wouldn't if the alumnae weren't calling the shots. At least eliminating the required legacy courtesies of required first round invitations allow the chapters to choose their own membership instead of having to drop pnm's they like to accomodate legacies they don't. The line about trying to "create an even playing field for first generation spaces" is great and all, but the chapters benefit from not having to waste time and space on legacies that don't fit.
