Houses at OM can be put into categories based on what it takes to get in. The tiers are in order of social status and the houses within each group compete most with each other. Within the tiers, status is debatable, but the order is mostly correct. Legacy Tier: KD, XO, DDD You have to be a legacy or have strong connections to get in. These carry the highest social status because they are traditionally top. Most of the girls all went to the same private, Mississippi high school. Lots of alumnae support and money. Connection Tier: KKG, DG You have to know someone at least well enough to put in a good word for you. If you're pretty, you might have a chance without connections. Still lots of Mississippi and Southern girls. Resume Tier: Pi Phi, Phi Mu While connections help with these houses, they mostly select on grades, involvement, and personality. They are more of the career woman type than the MRS degree type in the first two groups. They are the houses that out-of-state girls want to get in. Risk Tier: ADPi, AOPi, APhi Mostly reputation and grade risks; some of the girls were shy during rush or fell through because of lack of connections. APhi takes lots of grade and reputation risks if they're pretty, so they tend to have lots of scandals and drama. AOPi and ADPi take some grade and reputation risks, but focus on grades and involvement to some degree. A lot of nice girls who don't have connections are in those two houses.
