I'm an active member in (according to these discussions) a top tier sorority.. thanks y'all. But I really just couldn't help to post my personal opinion after being in an Ole Miss sorority for three years.. If it wasn't for the massive amount of money (dues) I have invested since bid day, there is no way I would still be in a sorority. It is just another way to maintain a high school mindset with stereotypical cliques and social rankings. A huge flaw of the Ole Miss Greek System is that chapters are wayyy WAYYYYY too big to actually have a true sisterhood that I envy other universities of. If anything, joining a sorority opens the door to more drama, criticism and leaves you highly vulnerable of viscous rumors. Because, while this site may seem like other sororities hate each other, I promise you there's way more conniving, backstabbing, and lying within your house. It's truly so upsetting because no matter how strong/ weak a sorority may be.... 500 girls will never be able to get along with everyone. And since the whole school follows these (apparently) permanent finite rankings of each sorority, it remains impossible to add more sororities. With all of that being said: Even though Rush week was nerve wracking, Bid Day continues to be the happiest day of my life. moral of the story: DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU! You will NOT be a social outcast, nor will you be anything more or less of a person than who you are right now. Loves Y'all.
