"Jake" gave a pretty accurate description. I don't agree with the statement that it is impossible to get a bid to a top house if you currently do not know anyone in those houses. However you do need to meet and get to know the guys in the house BEFORE formal rush. It is your responsibility to be in front of the guys of the houses that you are interested in. I would reach out to several houses now and keep in touch with them often. They will then start reaching out to you if they are interested.
