First thing first, I don't know a soul that didn't "like" ole miss when they visited. Stay here for a year and see if you like it. yes, a lot of people still like it once they get here. But, ole miss has the highest transfer out rate in the entire SEC. A lot of people regret Ole Miss and move back to their home school. Second, I wouldn't use the word "rigged". It's not rigged, most top frats went to the same high school, parents are friends, etc., of course they are going to pick the people they knew and grew up with. That's at every school, some schools are worse than others. Bama is pretty "rigged" but it's possible for non legacy/non home town to go top tier (although very hard). At ole miss it's IMPOSSIBLE. Doesn't matter if you drive a range rover, parents are millionaires, if you were prom king, have a 35 ACT, are a 10/10 etc. None of that will determine what frat you get into. "unlikely to get a bid from a frat" This is 100% false. The point of rush is to get everyone a bid. Almost every gets a bid. The very very very few that don't are like super werid and awkward, I'm talking maybe 3-5 people out of 1000+ guys that rush don't get bids. Most people that drop are either (1) didn't like the houses they had left so they dropped or (2) suicide bidded, which pretty much means they bid houses that were out of their league. It's like an average high schooler 3.5 gpa, 25 ACT, should get into college right? But if he applied only to ivy league schools then obviously he won't get in lol Long story short, if you play your cards right, connect with actives, there's a small chance for mid tier. top tier is out of the question. if not mid tier, it'll bottom tier. Don't think of bottom tier as the "losers" like it's in high school. There a ton of high school QBs, good looking, rich guys in bottom tiers, they just didn't have the connections for top/mid tier.
