You've read here to ignore tent talk, that it doesn't matter, etc. That's right. But here's another thing: once you receive your bid, no one (unless they're arrogant jerks who don't matter) will care what letters you wear. Here's what does matter: the people you spend your time with. When I went through rush I admit I was snobby and only would pledge the "top" houses. I shocked when I was dropped by all but "lower tier" houses despite having connections. But I took my mom's advice and accepted the bid from the one house that invited me back. Here's the irony: on Bid Day I saw a girl who I'd met moving into the dorm. Someone I really liked, who I wanted to get to know. She was at my house...and so were so many other great girls. I also realized the members - who saw something in me that had them extend a bid - were just as great. My house is a mix of out-of-state and in-state (I'm in-state but plan to move out-of-state when I graduate) which is the perfect fit for me. I did get to know girls from top and mid tier houses - and there are some wonderful members, but looking back, I see how perfect my house is, even though I really wasn't sure. So if you get a bid from a house you're unsure about, TAKE IT! Get to know your sisters. Re-rushing is rarely successful and the houses that do open bidding are the ones you likely think you're too good for. I wish you all the best and hope you'll take my mom's advice (she wasn't even in a sorority, but knew that this was a chance worth taking) and run to your house tomorrow with a smile (even if you're faking it), then work to get to know your sisters. I promise you this - in a house of 300-400 girls, you WILL find your group and if you can't, then you're not trying.
