Moms were hands-off. They didn't hole up in a hotel or condo and drink wine all week to 'survive'. No one sent presents during the week or Bid Day baskets. It was competitive, but not like now. I think we had fun despite the worries about getting into a house (since there was no guaranteed bidding).
