Being a legacy is more scary and can hurt more than help - other houses may automatically dismiss you or not give you a serious look because they think you may go your legacy house. Your legacy house may not keep you because they want to open their numbers to non-legacy girls. Then those non-legacy girls go to a different house and your legacy house wishes they didn't release you. Being a legacy is NOT all is cracked up to be... I know plenty of girls who do not list their legacy status on resumes given to competing houses.
