These Aristocratic Southern families obtained their original influential power during the colonial period of the Old Antebellum South. The vestiges of this ' Christian Aristocracy' still exist in Dixie. Some of these families where known Tories during the American Revolution remaining loyal to King George III and later they helped in the formation and governance of the Confederate States of America.
