Selectivity

The most competitive Greek schools are selective in different ways. The number of PNMs who don't get a bid at schools Ole Miss, Bama, and Texas includes a lot of girls who drop out because they would rather be GDI than take a bid from a house they feel is beneath them. At Indiana most chapters require members to live in the house all four years. Each chapter determines its own quota based on the number of vacancies in the house. The top houses tend to be the smallest physically and therefore have the smallest totals. Many PNMs at IU who would happily take a bid to any house go bidless even if they make it to pref, simply because there are so few spaces available and they just weren't high enough on anyone's bid list. (On the other hand, it's possible to get a bid at IU without any recs.)
