I disagree with variable quota ruining the bottom houses chances for a "type" of girl. The lower tiers and about half of the middle tiers are made up of out of state students. Those students are looking for a different perspective from college. They tend to be looking for diversity and the last thing they want is to be 'typed'. Some of those students don't even come here looking to join a sorority, they make that decision after getting here. It is a little easier to 'type' the upper tiers because they all tend to come from the same high schools, they were already friends before they got here and/or they are legacies to former Ole Miss students from the same hometowns. They could even possibly be related. The Greek life system is growing at Ole Miss and yes, the top tiers will become even harder for those Mississippi girls to get into. However that's not going to hurt the OOS sororities. As more out of state students come to Ole Miss the OOS sororities will become stronger and they will care less and less what the Mississippi groups think of them.
