I think variable quota was harder for the 'Mississippi/Memphis' high school sororities. With the reduced recruitment numbers, those sororities had very little room left after their Spring parties. Which then meant there were many girls (even legacies) who were recruited by other sororities. That did cause some heart break for those girls who had probably spent their entire high school years dreaming of joining a certain sorority with all their friends. That's a big deal for people who will spend their entire lives in Mississippi/Memphis and their college sorority defines their very existence. However, those of us from out of state are usually here for college and not the sorority - so it was a little easier for us.
