I'm a sophomore and I just transferred here from a city school (with no greek presence on campus) that was closer to my home in New England. I decided since I am a sophomore this year that I would not rush (mostly because I don't really have any friends or family who were involved in greek life). In NE there are a lot of stereotypes about the types of girls that are in sororities, but I decided to put those in the back of my mind since most of the girls I have met here are rushing. I have met wonderful girls here (who are now part of Ole Miss Greek Life), but honestly after seeing a lot of the catty behavior that has occurred over the course of rush week I think Greek Life really needs to reconsider their purpose. I know that not every girl in a sorority is like this, but some girls seriously believe that their status directly correlates with the sorority they are in. I'm still learning about sororities, but from what I can tell so far is that the differences amongst all the sororities on campus make them all important on campus! I think it's great that girls can be a part of something so big and influential such as a house, which then even contributes to the bigger community of Ole Miss Greek Life collectively. With that being said, congrats to all the girls and houses!
