One of the true measures of rankings is, as someone else posted, based on retention rates. Yes, campus participation, quality of girls, etc. What good is a chapter that is constantly losing members? Not a lot as it doesn't create a cohesive chapter. As for chapters nationally, so many houses here are not strong elsewhere and visa versa, although there are those that are constantly ranked in the top 10 with Chi O, Tri-Delt, Theta, Kappa and Pi Phi ranking the higher. Interesting because at some schools out west, Tri-Delt and Chi O are not as strong. Likewise, the Southern-founded sororities - in particular KD and Phi Mu - aren't strong in other areas. And there are some sororities, usually not quite as large nationally, that are very strong in the Midwest and West - Gamma Phi Beta, Alpha Phi, ADPi, and such. In general, I think the obsession with rankings is ridiculous. You pledge a chapter for who they are at your campus, not their national ranking!
