National strength is important, but unles it is combined with a good reputation in the state/region, it means very little. For a new group to be successful at Ole Miss - which I believe will be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, regardless the group - there will HAVE to be a great reputation at some other nearby school. Because, face it, every girl wants to be proud to go home wearing her letters...and if she joins a group at her school that is NOT good in her hometown, she won't want to wear her letters at home and her ability to recruit the "good" girls from her hometown will be nonexistent. It might not be this way up North...but down South you'd better believe that it's SUPER important to pledge a "good" group and one that is "popular" with your hometown crowd. If a group has closed a chapter for low membership in the last 2-3 decades, it's not gonna go. Period. Speaking as a sorority advisor at a school with a STRONG Greek Life program, I can tell you this:
