Something for pnm's to think about. I'm a senior this year, and let me tell you that member selection at ole miss is nothing like you hear, or see, or imagine! There are politics at play in at least 6 of the 11 chapters on campus. Let me explain how girls get chosen. Our sophomores start in the spring identifying girls from their hometowns who will be attending ole miss that would make great new members. They will in a way "sponsor" their favorites. Their "rush crushes". They will tell all their friends about them, friends will start following them on social media, they will make posters with the pnm's pictures and stats on them and hang these posters up and down the hallways in the sorority house. They will invite these girls to stay with them and attend spring parties with them. They will text and keep in touch throughout the summer. Top girls will be placed in our slide shows we review as a group. We don't vote, we simply get to know the girls way before they set foot in our house. Our alumni also get their say so, call our alumni advisors and have their own lists. They will call us, especially the alumni who wrote our recs for us, and ask us to "get to know their favorites". We happily do. By the time rush starts, we already know who we hope to bid.
