Subject:
to pnms who are considering dropping

Poster Message:
I was you a couple of years ago. I went through the "snowmageddon" recruitment, which Panhel shortened to 3 parties, so it was a little different, but similar enough. I entered recruitment knowing IU rush was supposedly crazy competitive, but I had an open mind, decent grades (3.4) and am decently attractive (at least in my own mind ;P) I went through round 1, had awesome conversations and could easily see myself in a majority of the chapters. I got my first invitations and was shocked that i only had 5/21 (only 21 chapters back then - no DPhiE, no SK coming). Because Panhel cut a party that year, sororities made very deep cuts after round 1, because round 2 was our only invitational and then round 3 was preference. Of my five, only 1 was on my initial ranking. I was devastated and considered dropping. I stuck with it and went to 3 preference parties (none of which were on my initial ranking.) I took a leap of faith, embraced what I did like of my remaining chapters, ranked them all and got a bid into my first preference from that day. Was it my dream recruitment - he!! no, it was one of my worst experiences at IU. Did it work out well - Yes! I love my sisters and my chapter. I found a connection and my best friends. I understand what you are feeling - I totally get it, but wanted you to know that there still is a place for you in Greek Life if you choose to embrace it. Sisterhood is for a lifetime, not just the 3 1/2 years at IU. Best wishes!
