You don't understand IU's Recruitment. We are the only Panhellenic in the nation that allows our chapters to set their own quotas rather than follow RFM Total quota. Many chapters require their sisters to live in all 3 years. That said, we can not take total quota which would give us pledge class sizes of 80+. Also keep in mind we have 22 national sororities (6+ more than many SEC schools. Some of the more competitive sororities could only fit 120 in their house, so they traditionally took only 30-35 pledges a year. IU is The only school where a smaller pledge class equates to higher tier and larger pledge classes is considered lower. This year Panhellenic has set a minimum quota for all sororities of 50, and some chapters are pissed because they feel they will lose some of their exclusivity. However, it's the right thing to do because we need to open up Greek life to more women and stop releasing so many quality women. Personally, I think we should be required to do total quota, but that won't happen unless we are forced. SEC recruitment is very competitive but many more women are placed in a chapter than at IU. See our Panhellenic website for stats. It's ridiculous.
