Fall rushing campuses do have minimum gpa requirements and those chapters have higher gpa requirements than the minimum set by campus. Studies have been done that show how students with a HS gpa of "x" will perform in college. And how first semester college students with low gpas will perform. It isn't an arbitrary number pulled out of the air, there is research behing it. The purpose of college, first and foremost, is to educate the student so he/she is employable. The extracurricular stuff is just icing on the cake, and is best reserved for students that can handle the extra commitments and still make grades.
