While knowing girls in houses can definitely help, your chances of getting a bid are still just as great if you show your personality, keep your grades up, and hold memorable conversations (in a good way) during recruitment regardless of who you know. As far as it being hard to get into a sorority at IU, you probably don't need another person telling you how difficult it is here. I rushed last year and while I couldn't be happier with the house I ended up in, there were definitely points during recruitment where I felt discouraged and wanted to drop. Just try your best to keep an open mind, don't read to far into greek rank or reputations you hear from ignorant people around campus. Every chapter has great girls, fun parties and awesome opportunities, and if you stick it out and give each chapter a fair chance, I'm sure you'll learn that for yourself.
