Not in all cases. If the Mom is not an active alumna meaning involved still with the organization it may not mean crap. I friends whose mothers were in chapters at IU and they were cut. The most important legacy is a current sister in the chapter. That is the one that rarely gets cut. AxiD and SK consider nieces legacies. This all varies from organization to organization.
