Only you were there so nobody here can tell you if you did anything wrong. Sometimes you think you are doing everything right and others see it differently. Its fine to reflect back on your conversations but don't dwell on them because it will eat you up the longer you let it. You still have a house in play and should at least go visit. Perspectives can change when options are taken away. You still may feel the same way after the visit but at least you would have given yourself an opportunity. Sometimes its the smallest thing that sets you apart from another. It could be someone else was equal with your qualities but had a sightly higher GPA. Could be the luck of the draw of who you talked to. Way to many possibilities. Probably wasn't just one thing. It only takes one good pledge class to help lift a chapter up and get them moving in the right direction.
