So Zeta was a top house but now they're probably considered upper-mid. Basically, an incident occurred where the majority of one of their PC's got in trouble with the law (I believe it ended up being drinking tickets) and was given to over half of one pledge class. The Zeta Nationals stepped in, kicking out the girls that got in trouble because of this. At the time of the incident, Zeta had just gone through recruitment a few months before, so the timing was bad and they couldn't just rely on rush to get more girls. This encouraged a lot of girls to drop, both from the newly recruited class, the remaining PC, and some of the seniors. Essentially, most of the house was suddenly empty in a few months. So Zeta the rush year before this did both informal recruitment AND took in a very large new PC to fill their house. Now that they are back to normal though in terms of numbers, they just aren't considered as high of a "tier" because so many of the girls that were what made that house a top tier house are gone. Zeta is still an awesome sorority and has really nice girls in it. I would not let this incident faze you when it comes to rushing a house. They are doing fine and worked through the incident with their nationals. Sororities go through this stuff all the time - and if anything it's a lesson learned. You aren't above the law, and it could affect your membership in a sorority
