Just think about it. Using the numbers from last year: quota of 54 (dropped from 55 due to dropouts), more if they set quota higher, ASA and TPA slightly less, DPhiE even fewer (you can search for the numbers-someone had a thread going around bid day). Around 1700 started recruitment, around 1300 attended bid matching, with around 1200 accepting bids (some rejected their bids, some didn't receive one). If you use quota and the number of PNMs at bid matching, that gives a 4% chance of joining ANY chapter. Bottom line: IU is competitive because of the small PC sizes and you have a low chance of getting a bid to any particular chapter. Odds are, if you maximize your options and don't single intentional preference (suicide bid) you will get a bid somewhere-likely not your first choice, but somewhere. The power sits with the sororities when it comes to IU recruitment.
