GPA aside, Kappa is actually more difficult to get a bid from. Because of many legacies and hometown/high school connections, they begin rush with a number of near-locks. They are the second oldest sorority at IU (after Theta) and so they have very far-reaching granddaughters and daughters going through. A phi is certainly a desirable house, but they may not look for the legacy or social connections that Kappa look for. A phi looks more at looks, clothes and very outgoing personalities. Also, they feel the need to openly compete with Pi phi and Chi O for the "pretty" girls.
