I went through as a sophomore and love my chapter! The experience of formal was a lot of fun and I enjoyed getting to know all of the chapters. Yes, I got some heavy cuts early on because of my age, but other than that I ran into no problems. I'd consider it, because the added involvement and potentially more telling GPA could help you, as well as getting to know women in the chapters! Since you can't really do formal, I'd look into informal and if you aren't sure, go for formal because there's not much you can lose and informal is open to juniors too should formal not work out.
