I would say depends on the reason for the reputation. If you bullied any of my sisters in HS, were excessively mean, mistreated other girls, were nasty to everyone; I don't care who met you during recruitment or how much they like you, you're getting a no. People may change, but it's just as likely they're being fake for recruitment, and I'm not going to risk making my sister uncomfortable who knew you prior if you were not a nice person. If you weren't cool or just unpopular then who cares. If you come across cool now, high school doesn't matter. It really could be a toss up.
