ASA Description: Let me start off by saying you should never join a fraternity/sorority based off these ranks. You’ll be joining for the wrong reasons and most of the time they will see right through it and not offer you a bid. With that being said, rankings of the frats mean more than sororities. If your a top frat your consistently throwing great parties, have great connections with the sororities, and have great guys in their pledge classes. At the University of Arizona frats have a system where they give wristbands to girls, only girls with bands are allowed to come into the party, this makes things more exclusive and is due to liability reasons. Whereas sorority rankings do not matter as much because you can usually still get bands to goto frat parties even if your in a lower tier sorority. Although it does help to be in a top sorority because top frats normally only drop off bands to top sorority houses to have the “hottest” girls at their parties. Sororities usually bid around 100 girls where frats normally bid around 20-30 so competition is much greater to join a good frat. A lot of frats had great years last year and there is a lot of hype for them going into next year to move up ranks.
