Freshmen: you can change this conversation. If your other freshmen friends (who don't know anything) and dudes you meet in frats (who are extremely biased; most frat guys only know girls in a couple sororitys) are spreading rumors, call them out on their BS. "Who did you hear that from," "that's what I've heard but it seems like people are just repeating rumors," "you can't judge the whole chapter based on two girls you met," etc... Take everything with a grain of salt. Tell others to do the same. To get a real sense of what the chapters are like, ask upperclassmen girls you meet what they like about their chapters. They're biased of course but their answers will still tell you something. And you'll be more prepared to ask questions during recruitment. During recruitment: pay attention, open your mind, go with your instincts. Also. Don't stress. Sorority life isn't for everyone. That's totally okay. GET INVOLVED IN OTHER THINGS FIRST.
