Dear Freshman, Sophomores, transfers, and any one remotely thinking about rushing a sorority this year, I am WELL aware of the abolish greek life movement and the effects it has had on this campus. As someone in a sorority, yes, Greek life has a long way to go still, and to be completely honest with you, it will take many years beyond our time here at college to make these organizations equal, equitable, just, and more. But, I think you should still go through recruitment. Besides the benefits of finding your people and finding out who you are and what matters to you, you are also presented with a unique situation in this era at NU. Many sororities are smaller, with tons of leadership options. Which means, your pledge class is going to set the stage for what sororities will look like here at NU. Right now, this is truly what you all make it. I am beyond excited to meet open-minded people who are ready to push for change, while helping those around them grow into the best people they can be, and chances are if you go to NU you fit this description already. PHA (regardless of chapter) has so many wonderful and inspiring people that I am so thankful to surround myself with. So give recruitment a try, you might be surprised at how well it suits you.
