Subject:
recruitment advice from someone who's been through

Poster Message:
While it's probably best to stay off of Greek Rank when you're about to go through recruitment, I know that nerves can motivate us to research and prepare ourselves in any way we can. I hope that for those of you on this site, this advice will stick with you when you're making decisions during recruitment. Hopefully, it'll help you feel a little more confident and give you an idea of what you want to get out of your future sorority life. When you're a freshman, it's easy to get caught up in social status because you're trying to make friends a find a place on campus where you belong. While we like to say that we're above that, we unconsciously still consider "rankings" because we don't have much else to go off of when forming opinions. I know I definitely did. And that's 100% natural and okay. However, it's important to know that regardless of what sorority you end up in, you'll gradually start to see that the superficial criteria people rank sororities on matters very little. Yes, tiers do have some influence into which sororities mix with which fraternities. But after your sophomore year, you won't really go to mixers all that often. What you will continue to engage in is all of the other amazing opportunities your sorority has to offer, like giving back to the community through philanthropy, growing as a leader, laughing your ass off at sisterhood events, and of course, all of the awesome life-long friendships you'll make.
