I think the main issue here is the focus and worship of the so called PKT. I am disappointed that you would describe your daughters choice as "non-desirable". That attitude, in fact, is the reason why UT has such a dreadful recruitment with so many disappointed young ladies when they don't get a bid from the so called "Big 6". My daughter was also a legacy for a so called "Big 6" went through a couple of years ago and decided to become part of a wonderful sisterhood who is not considered the so called"Big 6". Guess what? She loves it and it has been an incredible sisterhood. I too was very active as an alumnae and found my disappointment came from my self centered behavior and concern not my daughters. In summary, embrace your daughters decision, do not ever let her think you are disappointed and you know what, if a sisterhood cut her, then it may be their loss not hers and her current sisterhoods gain. All sororities at UT have and add value to their college experience.
