For those of you looking to rush or currently going through the process: It's easy to get caught up in the social roller coaster that is Greek life at UT, and for many people that means getting preoccupied with tiers, social hierarchies, relations with groups of the opposite gender, etc. But take it from someone who's been through the system and is now on the other side: unless your letters are a long-standing part of your family's history, odds are your affiliation won't have all that significant of an impact on your life as a whole. It's all important to you now, I know. Who has the most fun, who mixes with the hottest girls, who has the nicest house, who has the best reputation. All of these things get weighed when you choose where to go, but most of these aspects won't have much meaning after you graduate. What does last are the friendships and connections you make that you carry with you beyond college and into the rest of your life. So choose a group where you feel like you fit in. Where you like the people. The relationships you make will be what you remember ten years from now.
