Some more advice for PNMs who aren’t as well informed and are going through rush: - Pi phi has a dance party. Know this is coming and don’t freak out! Have fun, enjoy it. It’s a nice break from the open house script “where are you from/ where are you living/ what activities did you do in high school” - Theta is also going to dance with you at the door. Smile, be bubbly! It’s fun too. - Most houses have an elaborate door stack. Don’t get freaked out by that. Just smile and wait for your turn to walk in. - Don’t go in thinking you have to go your legacy. Sometimes you’re a great fit, sometimes you’re not! Keep your eyes open to where your heart will be most happy. - Don’t worry if you’re NOT a legacy! Houses do not care and are always looking to take girls with no past greek experience if you’re awesome! - Be kind to the girls in ALL the tiers. If you have a negative impression of PKT because you’ve heard things about snobbiness/zip code cuts, know those aren’t real. The “lower” houses are also full of awesome girls too. Don’t get sucked in by status and thinking you’re “too good” for a house. - Finally, know that at the end of the day, the letters on your/someone else’s shirt don’t matter that much in the grand scheme of things. They don’t make you “cool” or “lame”. Be kind to all the girls you meet, no matter who they join. You don’t have to only be friends with girls in your house! Houses are not necessarily indicative of a person’s coolness/kindness/money/looks/value as a friend. People make their own worth. You define who you are and your own value. You’re going to have a great experience regardless of what house you join! All houses at UT have awesome girls!
