<strong>Subject:</strong><br />? free soph and jrs?<br /><br /> Poster Message:
My siaster goes to a college where chapters can add ‘free’ sophomores and juniors to their pledge class. The number is limited but changes each year, but up to 5. They can take them during informal recruitment in the spring too. Very laid back, individuals coming to dinner to any house that invites them from the list. They are exempt from counting in quota. There seems to be advantages. Do you think it would fly here? I always see inquiries about older girls asking about their chances. She says it works because quality girls, transfers from non-Greek schools, sick ones who missed previous recruitment, have a chance to get into houses equally. The house numbers go up. If pledged in the fall, there is less chance of hazing with these older girls, as they bring a maturity to the pledge class and actives can’t intimidate them as easily. The actives like it because they can have the opportunity to make new, and comparable friends. They aren’t burned out after 4 years in college and a lot of their advisors joined as sophomores or juniors. They say that they are still rah rah after graduation. Thoughts?
