The problem with this post is that Pocahontas doesn't "get" the value of snap-bidding and so is still stuck on the idea that there is a NEED to cover it up. She's not alone. A lot of people on this board hurl accusations of snap-bidding and COBing around like it's an insult to do this. Smart chapters know it is an essential tool for retaining your competitive edge, not a weakness. Do you really think PiPhi utilizes snap bids by scanning the campus for the closest random loner they can find and slapping Pi Phi letters on her?? Hardly! If they are snap bidding, I guarantee you they are using their connections to reach out to a fabulous girl whom they overlooked during the process. Rush stats aren't perfect and PKT have to drop a crap-ton of girls on the first day and throughout each round until they are down to juuuuust enough girls to fill a pledge class on pref with only a few left over. They are playing a guessing game just like the PNMs are about who they can get and sometimes they misread a girl's cues or another chapter wins her over and they come up one short of quota. They don't have that many at pref to start with! Sure, they can survive with one slot "open" if they want to...but why would they want to when they can easily find a quality member who wants to fill that dues-paying vacancy right away? I know you'd like it to mean more than it does about their status. But it doesn't.
