Perhaps it's also possible that the "lower tier" house somehow got wind that you were still in the running for the "top tier" houses. Knowing how big of a deal "top tier" is at UT, maybe they wanted to cut you because they figured you would just go for the top tier and wanted to use their invites for girls they thought might actually choose them. I'm not sure how they would have known unless you inadvertently said something during the round. Or, you have certain qualifications (you went to a certain high school or camp) that screams "top tier". I'm just speculating. But, that is one of the options. At the end of the day, we don't know. You give it your best and that's all you can do. And you're right, the "tier talk" probably isn't as true as people want to make it out to be. I'm glad you received a bid to a place you enjoy!
