They aren't THAT much better than houses like Aphi, AXO, AEPhi or Pi Phi. It's really just more hype than anything. In fact, I would say AXO/AEPhi are very comparable to Kappas, Pi Phi to GPhis and Aphi to DG. The most important thing is for you to go with the house you feel most comfortable in, not what seems to be most popular.
